The Scottish WAN is one of the most ambitious single public sector initiatives ever undertaken.

Today it connects over 50% of all public sector bodies – that is 6,000 sites, including every hospital and ambulance station, as well as nurseries, schools and local councils.

The result is a framework for innovation that has already delivered £30m worth of savings to the Scottish government.

SWAN offers significant economies of scale and value for money, which is in turn putting cash back into the public purse. We want public services organisations to understand that it’s not just a new network, but a significant foundation for digital transformation that will make a real difference to public services into the future.
